“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:17-18
This verse describes the attitude of thanksgiving that should be our perspective as followers of Jesus. This world is full of brokenness, despair and heartache. Jesus said in John 16:33:
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have
peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have over come the world.”
The greatest challenges this world offers pale in comparison to the rewards that are in store for the faithful followers of Jesus. We have so many blessings, especially in this country, and yet they are lost on most people. Lost in the materialism, conflict, chaos and business of life.
What if we just stopped, set aside time to purposefully and intentionally consider what we are thankful for? The Psalmist, in chapter 107 laments repeatedly:
Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!
Let’s be intentional about giving God thanks this Thanksgiving season! It will change your heart, life, and relationship with God!
